Yoga and Meditation
Yoga and meditation go hand in hand, one follows the other just as the out breath follows the in breath. Both have been shown through practice and felt experience to have positive benefits on the body and mind. Yoga meaning union; How we move through life, our connection to our inner and outer worlds, how we meet ourselves and all of life.
The physical asana practice which we are most familar with in the west, is an opportunity to train, strengthen our muscle memory in such skills as flexabilty, strength, flow, balance, surrender and much more but the mat is simply a place to 'practice' these skills, the real art of living yoga is brining our practice of the mat and into our lives, for example, at times when we feel tested, streched and challenged, can we breathe, roll over, laugh, get up n try again? Can we surrender to what is? can we be flexible if life doesn't go how we expected? For me these times are opportunities to practice my yoga off the mat.
I'm no master, just a beginner really, and its a life long journey of practice and presence but I'm on board to feel it all, to live fully with an open heart and grounded roots. Its my pleasure to have learned and be able to share practices that help me navigate this wild ride with more ease and grace.
Meditate; To concentrate, focus and calm the mind, observation of what is, mindfulness, an awakening awareness of self and our oneness with the universe. mantra and mudra can be used for focus and energy building in meditation. I like to sit and practice my meditation after my movement practice, preferably in the morning, to start my day in connection, flow and gratitude.

Through practice and study, my exploration of yoga and meditation has given me the tools to navigate, feel and connect deeply with my body and the world around me. Yoga and meditation can be described as a technology for the evolution of human consciousness. Dont take my word for it, try it n feel it for yourself..

Over the past 20 years I have practiced and studied many different styles of yoga, that have shaped and inspired my offerings today, which are ever evolving as I learn, change and grow: Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Tantra, Kundalini and Sivananda.

Currently my personal practice is a slow, focused and deep practice combining Yoga, dance and breath with mantra, mudra and meditation, resulting in an increase in pranic energy, a transformational fire that burns brightly and a strength and flexibility of the body and mind. I always practiced with Bhakti (devotion) through gratitude, prayer and intention, for me, this brings in another level of depth and meaning when applied to any practice and to life.

My yoga is a way of life that tries to follow the 6 branches of the yoga tree (Hatha ~ to move, Raja ~ to be regal, royal, introspective, in meditation. Karma ~to serve, to be selfless and give freely. Bhakti ~to be in devotion, to see the divine in all of creation. Jnana ~ knowledge and wisdom, yoga of the mind, the path of the sage or scholar, development of the intellect through the study of the scriptures and texts of the yogic tradition. Tantra ~ to weave, to celebrate, to live and feel fully. In tantric practice we cultivate a ritualistic approach to life which leads to a holistic approach to yoga, as a life practice, from the heart..

As you can see there is a lot more to yoga that the physical asana, mat practice but its a journey and you can choose to dive in deep or dip your toes in. From my experience, any approach to incorporating some or all of the principles and practices of yoga into your everyday life will bring tangible, felt benefits, try it for yourself and see...
